Zakah & Sadaqa Service

At the Islamic Center of Richmond (ICR), we are committed to fulfilling the important Islamic principles of Zakah and Sadaqa, which are essential acts of worship and charity in Islam. Our Zakah & Sadaqa Service facilitates the collection and distribution of these contributions, ensuring that they reach those in need within our community and beyond.

What is Zakah and Sadaqa?

Zakah is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and is an obligatory form of charity for eligible Muslims. It is typically calculated as a percentage of one's wealth and assets and is distributed to those who are less fortunate, including the poor, needy, and other deserving recipients outlined in Islamic teachings.
Sadaqa, or voluntary charity, is a broader concept that encompasses any act of giving for the sake of Allah without the expectation of receiving anything in return. It can take various forms, including monetary donations, acts of kindness, and community service.

How We Serve?

The Islamic Center of Richmond serves as a collection point for Zakah and Sadaqa contributions from members of the community. We accept monetary donations, as well as other forms of assistance, such as food, clothing, and other essential items.
Distribution: Our Zakah & Sadaqa Service works diligently to ensure that contributions are distributed equitably and effectively to those in need. We partner with local organizations and charities to identify and assist individuals and families facing hardship, providing them with the support they require to meet their basic needs.
